District Counseling and Psychotherapy is actively seeking licensed mental health professionals for remote contract positions throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We are hiring 3–10 contract therapists to join our established practice providing evidence-based mental health services to diverse client populations.

Joseph LaFleur, LICSW, Clinical Director, leads our expanding private practice specializing in comprehensive mental health services including anxiety, depression, trauma treatment, and LGBTQ+ affirming care. The practice offers individual therapy for anxiety, depression, and mood disorders; trauma-informed care including PTSD treatment and trauma recovery; LGBTQ+ affirming therapy and identity exploration; men’s mental health services; couples and relationship counseling; and life transitions and adjustment support.

Who Can Apply for These Contract Positions?

Required Professional Licenses

We are seeking licensed professionals with active licenses in Washington DC (LICSW, LGPC, LCPC), Maryland (LICSW, LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW-C), or Virginia (LICSW, LGPC, LCPC, LGSW).

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Active professional license in DC, Maryland, or Virginia in good standing. Clinical experience in individual therapy, assessments, and documentation. Remote therapy experience or willingness to learn telehealth best practices. Strong organizational skills and ability to learn EMR systems. Contract Position Details and Benefits

Compensation and Caseload

$40–$50 per therapy session based on experience and credentials. Minimum 24 sessions per month (approximately 6 sessions per week). Maximum caseload based on contractor capacity and availability. Flexible scheduling with day and evening appointment options.

Contract Therapist Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and intake evaluations. Provide individual psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Complete clinical documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and outside providers when appropriate. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.

Administrative Responsibilities

Schedule client appointments using practice management system. Manage billing information and insurance authorization processes. Participate in team meetings and clinical consultations as needed. Complete required training on EMR systems and practice protocols.
