Quarter Life Crisis Symptoms

Confused about who you are? Your Identity? Your place in Life? Your role in relationships? Are you yearning for the excitement of adolescence and/or college life again? Your emotions are dulling!

Are you questioning your chosen path in life? Are your accomplishments all that important? Is your job boring? Are you disappointed with your career? Will you have the energy to change? How will you ever succeed financially? House? Student loans?

Are you fearful of your blossoming conservativeness? Becoming more judgmental? Are name brands less satisfying? Less important? Do you find yourself being opinionated? Are you feeling jaded?

Are your friends boring? Are you questioning the relationships you are in?

You are not as open about your private life. In fact, you are more shy about sharing anything. You miss the comforts of college life and socializing with dynamic people on a constant basis. Or worse, you realize that maybe the ‘socializing’ isn’t as appealing. But then, what is? You are starting to realize that you can no longer ignore the selfish and mean-spirited qualities of others. And, maybe, they are noticing yours as well.

You begin to notice that partying isn’t so appealing. Alcohol and drugs don’t feel so good anymore. Maybe even dirty! And then there is sex. Random sex no longer satiates the desire. You become aware that the desire is actually loneliness. You now desire the hunt and loath the catch!

School has turned into work. There are lots of new interpersonal skills to learn. No one is offering to grade your work. No one is offering to teach you. You are becoming aware of Office Politics and beginning to understand that that is the path to success. How unfair! More skills to learn and without the pizzazz you once had. Your bottomless pit of energy has run out!

Bottom line:
What am I doing?
Why am I doing it?
Why don’t I care?
Is this all there is?
